We have a 1-bedroom unit facing the canal. The layout is okay for two people, but storage space is non-existent — we literally live out of suitcases because the wardrobe fits maybe 5 t-shirts. The 'balcony' is just a tiny ledge for the AC compressor and a drying rack, you can't stand there. Also, keep the balcony door shut because the smell from the canal (Khlong) can get pretty funky in the heat
Security
Digital door lock is standard. The guards at the gate are strict with taxis, which is good, but sometimes they are asleep at the desk at night
Neighbors
Lots of short-term rentals and Airbnb guests dragging luggage around. We hear the couple next door arguing every other night, walls are definitely not soundproof
Noise
If your room faces the tollway/highway, you will hear traffic hum 24/7. We face the canal, so it's quieter, but we hear the long-tail boats speeding by in the morning
Renovation
The finishing is decent Sansiri standard. The laminate floor hates water though, so be super careful not to spill anything or it will warp immediately
Furniture
The sofa provided is basically a wooden bench with thin foam — absolutely terrible for movie nights. We had to buy a mattress topper because the original bed was rock hard
Appliances
Two AC units, which is a blessing. The stove is electric and slow to heat up. The washing machine is on the balcony, which is standard here
View
Looking at the temple and the canal is actually pretty cool and distinctively Thai. Way better than staring at another concrete wall
About the building
General
The vibe is very 'community-like' because it’s part of the T77 complex. The pool is nice but gets very crowded on weekends with kids. The gym is small for such a big building, fighting for a treadmill at 6 PM is a daily ritual. There is a golf cart shuttle to the main road, but if you miss it, it's a long sweaty walk.
Cleanliness
The lobby smells like lemongrass spa, always super clean. The elevators are wiped down constantly
Security
It’s a gated community inside a gated community (T77). Feels super safe walking around the block even late at night
Yard
The T77 area is amazing — it has a literal farm, green spaces, and a canal walk. Best area for jogging in Bangkok, hands down
Parking
Visitor parking is a hassle and expensive. Residents get one spot, but the ramp is narrow and people drive like maniacs
About the district
General
On Nut is chaos, but organized chaos. You are far from the fancy malls, but you have 'Habito Mall' right in the backyard with cafes and coworking. The traffic on On Nut road is legendary — it can take 30 mins just to move 500 meters to Sukhumvit. But for food and cost of living, it’s a great spot
Cleanliness
Inside T77 is pristine, but once you step out to On Nut road, it’s dirty, wet, and crowded with street vendors
Security
Busy area, always eyes on the street. Watch out for motorbikes driving on the sidewalk though, that's standard here.
Beauty
The canal area and Habito are very instagrammable. The rest of On Nut is just gritty urban Bangkok
Transport Accessibility
It is NOT near the BTS. You need to take the shuttle bus or a motorbike taxi to get to On Nut station. Walking takes 15-20 mins.
Traffic Jams
Sukhumvit 77 is a parking lot. If you take a Grab car, you will be stuck forever. Motorbike is the only way to survive
