For those who don't know, the main problem in Batumi is mold. Well, Yalcin was built by Turks, and you can tell. The apartment is really dry and very warm. We have a gas boiler; in winter, we turn it down to low, and the house is in Tashkent. The dog sleeps on the floor without a bed, and I'm not afraid of drafts. The layout here is reasonable: we have a full-size two-room apartment with a separate kitchen (a rarity in Batumi, where there are mostly studio apartments).
Noise
Pirosmani Street is noisy 24/7. If your windows face the road, sleep with them closed. But the double-glazed windows are high-quality and effectively muffle the noise. You can hear your neighbors less than in new buildings, thanks to the thick walls.
View
It's a matter of luck. We have a view of the neighboring house and a bit of the street. Panoramic sea views are rare here; this is a house for living, not for Instagram photos.
About the building
General
The building is L-shaped, huge. There are tons of shops downstairs. The main drawback is the elevators. There are supposedly three or four per building, but they seem to have a mind of their own. Sometimes you have to wait five minutes for one to come down from the 20th floor, stopping at each one. With a dog who's patient, it can be stressful.
Yard
There's no courtyard. When you exit the building, you find yourself in an alleyway between shops where people are constantly unloading goods.
Parking
It's a nightmare! There's absolutely nowhere to park your car. The place is packed with taxi drivers and shoppers.
About the district
General
It's 5 minutes to the sea: We leave the house, cross the road, and find ourselves on Novy Boulevard. There are wide lawns there, where the entire neighborhood dog gang hangs out.
Beauty
The area is densely built up, a "concrete jungle," with little beauty. For beauty, we head to the embankment.
Stray Animals
There are plenty of them on the boulevard. They're all microchipped and are friendly to domestic dogs (unless yours is aggressive).
Supermarkets
Wilmart, right next door, is the best supermarket in terms of prices and selection (they have all the Turkish groceries and delicious sweets). There are vegetable stalls everywhere.
Pet Friendly
Perfect. Everything is close by, there are places to walk.
