I bought an apartment here purely because of the price; it was one of the most affordable options within the city limits. The layout is standard, and the space is ample. It's livable if you work all day and only come home to sleep, but don't have any illusions about it being comfortable.
Security
The door from the developer had to be replaced right away; it was flimsy. I installed a proper metal one. There's no concierge here, and the intercom works intermittently, so security is basic.
Neighbors
The neighbors are also working people, newcomers from the region, many of them families with children. People are generally simple and approachable. There are no drunken brawls; everyone is busy with their own problems and paying off loans.
Noise
The soundproofing is poor. The walls are thin, and you can hear your neighbors turning on the water or talking in raised voices. If a child is crying next door, you'll have to sleep with earplugs.
Renovation
I did the renovation myself, buying inexpensive materials from the hardware store. I leveled the walls and replaced the linoleum. The windows froze a bit in the winter, so I had to insulate the slopes.
Appliances
The basic appliances are there, everything works. But because the area is located on the outskirts, there are significant power surges. It's essential to install a voltage relay on the panel, otherwise the refrigerator or washing machine will burn out.
Internet
The internet is a pain. It took a long time to get decent providers with fiber optics here. The connection is often unstable, and in the evenings the speed drops so much that even watching a movie in decent quality is a challenge.
Insects
There are no cockroaches, and the houses are relatively new. However, the surrounding areas are vacant lots and fields, so mosquitoes, midges, and various field beetles are plentiful in the summer. Mosquito nets should be installed on all windows, without exception.
About the building
General
The buildings are low-rise, built quickly and affordably. They look plain, and the facades are already faded or cracked in places. This is classic budget housing on the outskirts.
Cleanliness
The entryways are washed, but because there are many unpaved areas around, dirt and dust are constantly dragged into the building on shoes. Perfect cleanliness is never an option.
Security
The courtyards are open, with no fences. Cars can easily enter. The courtyard lights work, but some of them burn out periodically and aren't replaced for a long time.
Yard
There are playgrounds and a couple of benches. It's fine for kids to run around, but there's no coziness or good landscaping. The trees are still small, and they offer no shade.
Parking
Parking is less of a problem than in the city center because there are plenty of empty lots around, and there's plenty of space for everyone. People simply park their cars under their windows or along the road.
Building Quality
The houses are panel and block-type, and they're warm in winter, with radiators that provide adequate heat. However, the roofs on the upper floors are sometimes poor quality, with leaks occurring in the spring.
About the district
General
The outskirts of the city along the Talgar Highway. Infrastructure is still developing, and getting to the city is difficult, but for those on a budget, this is a viable option.
Cleanliness
The highway itself is dusty and muddy, and sidewalks are scarce. In spring and fall, if you leave the asphalt, you can sink into the mud.
Security
It's fine during the day, but late at night, walking along unlit stretches of road or behind garages is uncomfortable. Police rarely pass by.
Beauty
There's zero aesthetics. Highways, gas stations, service stations, construction markets, and empty lots. Nothing to catch the eye.
Transport Accessibility
There are buses into the city, but during rush hour, they're crowded. Crowds of people stand at bus stops. The ride to the center is long and uncomfortable.
Traffic Jams
The Talgar Highway and the All-Russian Road Administration (VOAD) are completely blocked every morning. You need to leave for work with plenty of time to spare, otherwise you're guaranteed to be late.
Stray Animals
There are a lot of stray dogs. They roam in packs across wastelands and near markets, which can be really dangerous, especially for children.
Noise
The constant roar of traffic from the Talgar Highway. In the summer, the dust and road noise force people to keep their windows closed.
Parks
There are no parks. There's nowhere to walk, only to walk in circles around your own yard. The nearest proper recreation area is Gorky Park, but you still have to get there.
Restaurants
There are no restaurants, only roadside cafes, doner restaurants, and canteens for truck drivers.
