I rented a one-bedroom apartment here. It's a decent option for my first home. The price per square meter was reasonable. The layout is standard, without unnecessary hallways. Living alone is comfortable, but I have no illusions about the quality of the economy-class construction.
Security
I immediately replaced the developer's front door with a more secure one. We also installed a security camera on the floor at our own expense, along with the neighbors. The building often has visitors, so a reliable lock is essential.
Neighbors
The community is very diverse. There are many tenants, young families from the regions, and students. People change frequently. Because of this, there's no sense of neighborliness; no one knows anyone else. It can sometimes be noisy on weekends.
Noise
The soundproofing leaves much to be desired. You can hear the TV on next door or the baby crying. It's a relief that I come home late from work and go straight to bed, but for light sleepers this will be a problem.
Renovation
The renovation was simple and functional. I leveled the walls and installed durable laminate flooring. The windows were a bit chilly in the winter, so I had to call in specialists to adjust the hardware and replace the seals.
Internet
We have fiber optic internet. The speed is sufficient for watching movies in the evening and working on a laptop. Connection interruptions are extremely rare.
View
The windows overlook the Almaty Arena. The view is quite open; it doesn't feel like you're looking at a blank wall. In the evening, when the complex is illuminated, it looks quite nice.
About the building
General
The building is typical of a mass-market development on the outskirts. The complex is very crowded, and the elevators and entrance areas wear out faster than they can be repaired.
Cleanliness
The entrance halls are cleaned, but due to the constant flow of people and renovations, the neighbors' apartments are never perfectly clean. By evening, trash often accumulates on the ground floors.
Security
The courtyard is not gated, allowing for through traffic. There are no gates or fences. Lighting is available, but caution is advised when walking between the blocks at night, as the crowds on the streets can be mixed.
Yard
The courtyards are spacious, and there are decent playgrounds and sports fields. However, due to the area's location, strong winds are common, making walking in the courtyards uncomfortable.
Parking
Parking is a problem. There are limited spaces near the buildings, and in the evenings, it's a long search for a parking spot. Many people park on sidewalks or along the roadway, causing congestion inside the complex.
Building Quality
The monolithic structure is strong, but the finishing of the facades and entrance halls is the cheapest. In winter, the heating works reliably, and the apartments are warm. The elevators periodically break down due to overload.
About the district
General
The Alatau district is currently undergoing rapid development. The location near the Almaty Arena is the best site here. However, be prepared to spend a significant amount of time commuting to the city center.
Transport Accessibility
There are many stops, and buses run regularly along Momyshuly Street to all corners of the city. But leaving in the morning is difficult; the buses are overcrowded.
Cleanliness
The area around the Almaty Arena and the Traditional Arts Theater is excellently maintained. Wide sidewalks and lawns ensure everything looks modern and neat.
Security
It's safe to walk along the main streets in the evening; there are plenty of people and good lighting. However, I wouldn't recommend going deep into the neighboring older neighborhoods at night.
Beauty
New sports and cultural facilities have greatly transformed this part of the city. The area looks grand, but there's still very little greenery or mature trees, just concrete and asphalt.
Traffic Jams
Momyshuly Street and Ryskulova Avenue are mired in heavy traffic jams every morning. Getting to work downtown is a daily quest, taking at least an hour each way.
Stray Animals
There are few stray dogs within the residential complex itself, but they occasionally wander in from vacant lots and industrial zones. You need to be vigilant.
Noise
The noise from the highways is constant. Plus, as I already mentioned, there's often a strong wind here that howls between the high-rise buildings.
Parks
There's no full-fledged forest here, but the vast walking area around the Almaty Arena fully satisfies the need for walks and morning jogs.
