From the outside, the complex looks luxurious, like a five-star hotel; it's always a pleasure to come home. But the maintenance is exorbitant, and the bills for the targeted expenses are eye-watering.

The door is armored and opens with a fingerprint (when the scanner works properly). Leak and smoke detectors are installed throughout; they've saved us from flooding a couple of times, so that's a plus.

The neighbors are tricky people; they'll say "hello" through gritted teeth in the elevator. There's no sound between the apartments, and we don't really know who lives there—bankers or government officials—and we don't pry.

I bought a spacious three-room apartment so the kids could have their own rooms. I was lured in by the price and the promise of a "city within a city." It's livable, the square footage is reasonable, but the quality of the developer's rough finish was so poor that I had to spend a ton of time and money just to get it right.

Transport Accessibility

There are bus stops, and there are plenty of buses running along Raimbek. But leaving in the morning by public transport means cramming into the bus at full speed, and the crush is terrifying.

The housing association seems to be working, sweeping the yards and washing the entrances. But when you have a hundred families with children living in your building, the sand from the landing is dragged up to the floors in a couple of hours.

The apartment is absolutely stunning, very bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows perfect for content. I've been living here for six months; my parents rent it. Visual appeal was important to me, and I wanted it to be easily accessible by taxi to the university.

The surrounding area is immaculate, the lawns are perfect, the sidewalks are smooth, and you won't break your heels. The trash bins are beautiful and stink-free, and there are recycling bins everywhere—it's environmentally friendly.

There are more coffee shops than people, matcha lattes and proper desserts on every corner. I'm a regular here, and the baristas already know what to make for me, which is really nice.
